So "unavoidable Sharia" must mean that he wants
Sharia included in every English person's law
of the land. What bits? Polygamy, reduced women's
rights, amputations instead of ASBOs? How will
our existing law be enriched by the marvelousness
of Sharia? We wait for his clarifications with
bated breath.

If my understanding of Shari'a is correct then it is a total legal system and not a pick n mix system. It is an alternative legal system not a supplementary one.
We are starting to hear people saying that the Archbishop was not talking about the Shari'a of amputations and discrimination. Are these aspects part of Shari'a or not? If they are then an acceptance of more acceptable aspects of Shari'a is, in effect an endorsement of the whole Shari'a system.
Since Shari'a is a total system how can these unpleasant parts of it be divorced from more palatable aspects?
As far as I am concerned a little bit of Shari'a here and a little bit there is just a slippery slope to full Shari'a and all that goes with it.
Aeneas,
You are right. This is the thin
end of the wedge.
Williams is playing with fire and we have to stamp on it.
