Betrayal of Afghan Women by EU. In-Justice.

Half the women in Afghan jails are there for so called " moral crimes ". These include women deemed to be adulterers because they were raped, women who flee brutal husbands or households and women who have simply displeased in some way or another some pathetic and ridiculous Afghan male.

As NATO's departure approaches, the abandonment of Afghan women to the testosterone poisoned " values" of the Taleban is proceeding more and more rapidly. In the latest grotesque twist, the process has been given an accelerating shove by the EU. This august body commissioned a documentary to highlight the plight of women in Afghan jails. However, when the film, entitled In-Justice, was completed,the EU decided that it should not be released. The reason it gave was that it had been advised by members of the Afghan " judiciary " that showing the film would endanger the two principle imprisoned women whose cases were exposed. This not withstanding the fact that these two brave women, one made pregnant by her rapist and the other who fled after being beaten with an iron bar by her husband, had knowingly collaborated with the film makers precisely because they wanted the injustice of what they and other women suffer to be revealed.

Reading between the lines, it seems clear that in the end the shamefully timid and appeasing EU values its relationship with the perps of the Afghan " judiciary " a whole lot more than the condition of half of Afghanistan's population. How sad is that ?

From the low of of his groveling Cairo speech to the Muslim world where all he could say about Muslim women was that they " Had the right to wear the veil ", Obama has grown in my esteem at least in terms of what of what he says.

Adressing in May both the U.K. Commons and Lords, Obama eloquently made the point that the growing influence of countries like Brazil, China and India in no way diminuishes the importance of the role of America and its European allies. Without our might and fortitude, who else will defend and promote democracy round the globe?

It was an excellent speech. A shot in the arm as we stumble around haunted by thoughts of economic doom and self doubt.

Obama has also said some great things about the US Armed Services vets. " No one who has worn America's uniform should have to sleep on America's streets. " Lets hope he can put the money in to back his words.
In LA alone there are about 20,000 homeless men and women who risked their lives for their country.

Angela Merkel and Kurt Westergaard, Geert Wilders and the Dhimmis.

Last year on the 10th of September in Potsdam, Angela Merkel presented Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, Moh sporting a bomb turban, with the prestigious M100 SansSouci colloquium freedom of expression award.
I have always admired Merkel and thought at the time it was a just and brave gesture on her part.
At the ceremony she said " Its about whether in a Western Society he is allowed to publish his Mohammad cartoons or not. Is he allowed to do it? Yes, he is ! "
A bit late in the day, I salute Angela Merkel. Would any British leader have done the same ? Rather unlikely.

Yesterday Geert Wilders was acquitted in Holland of all charges relating to his spicy but broadly truthful depictions of Islam. The disappointed plaintiffs in this shameful Stalinist trial are now trooping off to see if they can ding him elsewhere.
Said Dhimmi lawyer Els Lucas " We plan to take the case to the European Court of Human Rights or the UN. " I just hope Els Lucas and his sad friends spend lots of time and money in revealing themselves yet more as the would be gaggers of those who denounce Islam's misogynism, intolerance and violence.
Although I feel that Geert Wilders's is way over the top when he calls for the banning of the Koran, in my opinion no book however trashy should ever be banned, I congratulate and salute him too.

UK Sex Gangs, Some Muslim Men, Non-Muslim Girls and Sensitivities.

We can be sure that if gangs of white non-Muslim men had been found to be systematically targeting young Muslim girls because they are " all whores ", the reaction of the authorities would have been rapid and robust.

As it is, we are now being told that, over the last few years in the North of England, of 56 men prosecuted for the grooming, abduction and rape of mostly white girls as young as 12, 50 were Muslims. One medically examined 13 year old appeared to have been raped more than 50 times. These racially and religiously aggravated sex crimes have been going on for some time but had been well hushed up. In May 2004, Colin Cramphorn Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police persuaded Channel Four to pull a documentary on their occurrence in the Bradford area. A colleague of his went as far as to suggest that some of the girls were involved as " a life style choice ". How delightful!

When these latest revelations were made, the Politically Korrect ( deliberate K ) were again quick to come out of the woodwork and declare that the crimes had nothing to do with culture or Islam and that an investigation should only proceed if special regard is given to "sensitivities".

For anyone with any real sensitivity it is not the sensitivities of the Muslim community that need to be protected. The only sensitivities that need to be protected are those of the young victims.

Famous feminist Naomi Wolf has a hunch that Saint Julian could not possibly have abused two Swedish women. Therefore he hasn't and is the victim of a smear generated by those fiendish Yankees.
If Saint Julian is innocent why is he not simply going back to Sweden to clear his name ?

Meanwhile the two women are being pilloried. I might be wrong but I suspect that Saint Julian is fighting extradition in the not unreasonable expectation that, with a bit more time, the continuing vilification of the women will be enough to make them withdraw their allegations.

Perhaps John Pilger and Jemima Khan, who hopefully consider rape a serious matter, might have a quiet word in the saintly ear.

Having said this about Saint Julian, I would like to make it quite clear that I approve of leaks where they do not endanger lives. It is amusing to note for instance that Saint Julian who sees the US as the Great Satan has probably scored countless own goals; the reports of US diplomats back to the State Department reflect very well their honesty and professionalism. Thus who, in the Great Club of Appeasers, could find fault with the restraint shown by the US when it is being continuously urged by the likes of Saudi Arabia to decapitate the Iranian Serpent? Wonderful stuff!

A bit of good news for a change. Below is what Aisha, not her real name, looked like when the good Islamic Taliban leader allowed her husband to cut off her nose and ears and leave her for dead.

This is what she looks like now after being taken in care by the Grossman Burn Foundation in California. The GBF, which amongst other humanitarian activities supports the fight against the abuse of women, has given Aisha a prosthetic nose and will in time operate on her to permanently reconstruct her nose and ears.

Bloomberg wrote in the London Times that anyone can open a place of worship anywhere( In the West )*; correct. He also said that Islam had nothing to do with the New York bombings; wrong. For the record here is my reply to the Times. Not published but here nonetheless in its modest way in the public domain.

Sir, Mayor Bloomberg ( 7 Aug ) was wrong to assert that Islam had nothing to do with the Twin Towers bombings. The bombers were Muslim and their support from the Islamic community may have been small but it was not insignificant. To plan an opening of a mosque on the anniversary of the atrocity and on its doorstep shows a lack of sensitivity that will do nothing to repair Islam's tarnished image.
Something more fitting, perhaps, would be to dedicate the buildings funding to a reform of Islam that would preclude the inspiration of acts of violence.

* Try opening a non-Muslim place of worship in a Muslim country! Don't even think about it.

The Betrayal of Afghan Women. Aisha and the Degenerate Taliban.

Now days the talk in Afghanistan is of negotiation with the Taliban. When, quite soon, NATO and its allies withdraw from the country, the Taliban will return to power or at the very least be partners in some frightfully corrupt and flaky governing coalition. When this happens, the thousands of dead and crippled Westerners and Afghans and the trillions of dollars spent will simply have taken the country and in particular all its women back to the degenerate stone age of the Taliban tyranny. In the Taliban hell, women (denied all education or rights) are there to be abused, mutilated and murdered at will. This will happen because when all is said and done most Afghan men rather like the Taliban way of doing things.

For trying to escape from a marriage where she was beaten and lived in fear of her life, Aisha above, was taken at night from her village in Uruzgan and dragged into the woods where she was condemned by the good Muslim local Taliban commander and mullah to have her nose and ears cut off. This was done with alacrity by her inlaws with her husband wielding the knife. She was left for dead but managed to survive*. This is institutionalised barbarism. This is again Islam. This is the Taliban.

*Thanks to Time magazine and others, Aisha will go to America for reconstructive surgery. Very few female victims of this deplorable society will be so lucky.

Cameron, Turkey and the EU.

Cameron has been blustering about how the EU must accept Turkey and French and German opposition must be reversed. Well no and here's my letter to the Financial Times on his intervention.

Sir, The elephant in the room for the Prime Minister, the FT,the Americans and others who are demanding that Turkey be admitted to the EU is the fact that Turkey is Islamic. Contrary to the claims of the Prime Minister, Islam is not compatible with true democracies as it does not accept the West's hard won freedoms of expression and conscience or the equal rights of women and homosexuals. It is the belief that these freedoms and social cohesion itself would be imperiled by the admission of 80 or more million Turkish Muslims that will sway the French and the Austrians when they vote in referenda on the issue and bring to nothing the Prime Minister's huffing and puffing.

The Turks are a hard working and enterprising people and they would profit hugely from the generous Special Economic Partnership on offer from Germany and France. They do not need a more intimate relationship and nor do we.

In the sphere of international political and military alliances, there is absolutely no reason why Turkey outside the EU should not remain a good friend. Both sides have enjoyed this friendship, why would that change?

This was part of an international day of protests organised to publicize the case of Sakine who has received 99 lashes and has spent the last 5 years in prison waiting to be executed for adultery. Originally condemned to death by stoning, the international outcry means that she will now probably be hung instead. Maryam Namazie, above, organised yesterday's protest. It was sunny and a lot more signatures were added to the petition demanding that Sakine be set free and that stoning be banned in Iran and the Islamic world in general. Balloon Jet Propulsion.High Altitude Calculation.

Everyone knows how if you let go of a balloon allowing the gas to escape quickly, the balloon shoots across the room. This is an attempt to quantify this balloon jet propulsion for the particular case of balloons venting up in the stratosphere. Could the balloon, approaching its bursting point on the back of Archimedes's Principle be saved and driven higher and if so by how much?

Although the calculations are used to obtain numbers for helium, He, they would apply equally for any other gas.

THE MAIN ASSUMPTIONS.

( a ) The balloon is filled with gas at 1 atmos. and 298*K, ( S.T.P. ) and the gas retains this state when it is vented. Of course, even in a well insulated envelope, the gas would be cooler in the frigid high atmosphere. This could be corrected for.( See below )

( b ) That the gas vents from the balloon axially and downwards along the vertical venting pipe with a velocity equal to the atoms mean random molecular speed ( c ) characterised by their temperature and pressure. This is optimistic, to put it mildly, but it gives an upper bound to what may be possible.

( c ) The solid material of the balloon has zero buoyancy. This will be the case when all the gas has vented but initially there will of course be buoyancy as the venting starts with the balloon at or near equilibrium, neither going up or down. This assumption underestimates the lift as does the assumption made that the loss of He does not reduce the balloons initial mass.

MASS OF HELIUM ( m ).

For a spherical balloon of radius 1m, the volume is 4.2m(3). The density of He at S.T.P. is 0.175 kg/m(3).
m=0.74kg.

MEAN RANDOM MOLECULAR SPEED ( c ).

For He at S.T.P of density r and pressure P,
P=(r*c(2))/3. With r=0.175kg/m(3) and P=10(5)Pa, c=1.3*10(3)=1300m/s.

IMPULSE AND CHANGE OF MOMENTUM.

What wonderfully merciful people these Muslims are !

Bit late with this because I've been away on the drop dead gorgeous Dorset coast. Anyway, what's happening?. A great many more poor Americans and re-possessions still on the increase. Obama has done good with his medical cover reforms. No one in the civilised world should be denied medical treatment because they cant pay for it. As I see it, the state has a duty to provide it's citizens with security, education and health. What the citizens then do with those treasures is their business. On Iran, Obama is more than slightly out to lunch; he is just buying time for the ayatollahs to build their bomb. When they get it and throw it at one or more of their neighbours he'll say " Hey that's a bummer but what could I do? " Heyho!

In Afghanistan Americans and others are dying because the Taliban is getting money from the Gulf states, support from Pakistan and are seen as patriots by most Afghans. If the Chinese and the Russians are not prepared to commit troops and treasure to help yank the Afghans out of the 10thC, we should just go and leave the Afghans to their delights.

What else ? In New York the Muslims are building a Mega Mosque next door to Ground Zero which they plan to open next year on the anniversary of the Muslim Bombing. They are trying to say that what happened had nothing to do with Islam and that those who think it did are confused and need to apologise for their mistake. As has been said its a bit like putting up a statue of Hitler in Auschwitz. The project has the backing of the Mayor and some local politicians all of whom need urgently to be scrutinised for possible inappropriate associations with well moneyed Muslim organisations. All I can say is that there are some Muslims who really havent got any shame at all.

Attacks on Jews in Holland, Germany and Belgium have increased to such a pitch that many Jews are leaving for the USA and even Britain. This week, a Jewish troupe of street dancers get stoned in Hanover to cries from Muslims of " Jews Out!", in Amsterdam a recent TV documentary showed how within minutes of appearing on the streets wearing skull caps, a group of Jews were set upon by Muslims who spat at them, cursed them and inevitably yelled " Jews go home! Once again Rowan Williams has managed to cover his Church and himself with ignominy. Although I am an atheist, I am proud of the progressive Christian heritage that contributed to the development of our brilliant Western culture. Williams is not a progressive. Instead of going with the times he has opposed the ordination of gays and is so bothered by the creation in America of women bishops that when one, Katherine Jefferts Schori, came to officiate here in Southwark Cathedral, he ordered her not to wear her mitre. He cant bring himself to let the homophobes and misogynists go their way. For goodness sake, let the homophobes and misogynists convert to Islam or Catholicism ! Williams could more than make up for the loss of the saurians by opening his arms to the many members of the Catholic clergy who would just love to renounce celibacy. Will he? No, too easy!

Seriously now, this mitre affair is just another example of the archbishop's regressive mind set. He is a man who has no particular interest in the enlightenment and would, I believe, be quite happy to see it rolled back in order to entrench the position of his religion, all religions in public life. To this end he reaches out to all the other hot hocus-pocus players. If he can please them and secure their thingies in a " pick an mix" bazaar of laws and privileges, it also bolsters, so he reasons, the defences and existing privileges of the Anglican Church. Thus, in a monstrous betrayal of British Muslim women and children he has ardently supported the introduction in Britain of Sharia courts. Again, presumably believing that this will strengthen the great religious cobweb in society, he has called for immams, rabbis, shamans and cardinals etc, to be given seats alongside his bishops in the Lords.
The man is really rather a disgrace. In my opinion, he should be gently tapped on the shoulder and handed a one way ticket to Riyadh.

Like Geert Wilders I know that there are many decent Muslims. Like him I know that this is despite their adherence to a thoroughly pernicious ideology. This ideology called Islam drips with the most hideously repellant and violent homophobia, misogeny and intolerance. Like Wilders I believe that Islam, funded by the trilions we pay for petrol, is a very real threat to the hard fought for liberties and cohesion of the democratic West. We have allowed massive Muslim immigration making only token attempts to counter the accompanying importation of a supremascist ideology which is not just bad for its followers but poisonous for the rest of us.
Geert Wilders has said all this loud and clear to the Dutch many of whom are sick and tired of the complacancy of the established political parties. His party appears to be doing well in the polls and should make a reasonable showing in the Dutch Parliamentry or General Election next Wednesday 9th of June. I hope he does do well because contrary to the spin put out by the paid-off, the voluntary dhimmis and the Stalinists he is neither racist or right wing. He is simply saying that Islamic ideology is not compatible with what we should be very proud of but take too much for granted; our freedom of expression and democracy.

The trouble is that Geert Wilders goes too often too far over the top. He has suggested that the Koran should be banned and, although he later backtracked on it, that Muslim women should pay a " Rag Head Tax " of 1000 euros a year for wearing headscarves*. He shouldn't shoot himself in the foot like that for a bit of cheap but ultimately damaging publicity. I worry that he has in fact lost the plot because of this kind of behaviour and that next Wednesday his vote will collapse. Let's hope not because he is in the end on the side of the angels.

*When our blonde bouffon hairstyled hero made this suggestion in Parliament an MP got up to say that he should logically also then put a tax on peroxide. Fair comment and who ever said the Dutch didnt have much of a sense of humour!?

Conservatives and Lib-Dems: a Done Deal.

I think I got it wrong yesterday. For the British to move from First Past the Post to Proportional Representation there would have to be a referendum. So what the Tories do is undertake to have a referendum and see what the country decides. Made an offer like this the Lib-Dems would walk up the aisle rejoicing. The outcome of such a referendum would not be a forgone conclusion so the Tories could tell themselves they are not giving PR they are simply putting it as an option to the nation. Thats cricket, thats fair; Cameron gets to be Prime Minister, the Double Glazing Salesman has his time in the sun and Labour repairs itself in opposition.
If PR is introduced, the Tories who I think have only once got more than 50% of the popular vote would be unlikely ever again to rule alone. Because, however, Britain has become a majority left of centre country solo Liberal and or Labour governments would probably become the norm. The prospect of this is the only thing that might yet hold the Tories back from agreeing to a referendum. They do rather think that they are a minority born to rule. With this in mind some Tories will be in favour of turning away the Lib Dems and leaving them and Labour to run into the sand after which the Tories sweep in with a workable majority. The danger with this play is that before the Lefties leave they pass the PR legislation. Too risky, my bet is now that the Tories will do the deal.

Second British General Election within a Month or Two.

Here in London this Saturday its grey, rainy and cold and the Tories and the Lib Dems are trying to get into bed together. To rule here you have to have at least 326 seats in Parliament. The Tories much agrieved got 306, Labour, expecting a wipe out, was happy to get 258 and the Lib Dems led by their smooth double-glazing salesman Nick Clegg were crushed to actually loose seats and end up on 57.
The Lib Dems want first past the post to be replaced by proportional representation (PR) which, unsurprisingly, would increase their personal representation. The Tories, forever looking backwards, would rather sell their wives than concede the abomination of PR. So although a coalition of 306 Tories and 57 Lib Dems looks good numerically, it wont happen unless, it is possible of course I suppose, the Lib Dems relinquish all their wonderful sounding principles for a brief moment in the sun. Labour, who are philosophically closer to the Lib Dems have offered them their cherished PR but the numbers dont add up to the magic 326.
So what? Well, the Tories could try to go it alone with the No Surrender Ulstermen and maybe even the Scots and Welsh Nationalists but it would be not much clear of 326 and about as managable and stable as a paper bag full of rattlesnakes on speed.
In conclusion, its all too messy and unworkable. One thing is certain; we Brits are off to the polls again sometime very soon.

Tories; 36, Labour; 29, Lib Dem; 23, Others; 12.

She is right and she has made the advancement of women the corner stone of the Obama administration's foreign policy. As she says; "the subjugation of women is a threat to our ( US ) security and the common security of the world ". With the exception, perhaps, of Communist China, all the dangerously misgoverned nation states from Afghanistan, to Iran, to Saudi Arabia, to the Democratic Republic of the Congo are characterised by the fact that they treat women like door mats. Under Clinton's leadership, the Americans are making available large sums of money very specifically targeted at the global advancement of women's health and education. Although largely unnoticed, I believe that this is one of the most important US foreign policy initiatives for a long time.

China Shoots Starving North Koreans.

Chinese border guards have orders to shoot on sight any North Koreans trying to escape starvation by crossing into China. If these starving people do manage to get across the border and are later picked up they are returned to the tender mercies of the Dear Leader's regime. Two weeks ago, thirteen women and two men were publicly shot in the border town of Onseong for attempting to cross into China.
In the 1990s, millions of North Koreans died of hunger out of sight and out of mind. Now again, criminal governance and crop failures are about to reproduce a similar famine. The Chinese are the only ones to have any leverage over their southern neighbour and they will be rightly blamed for another monstrous disaster if they fail to act promptly.
Instead of machine gunning the victims of their grotesque client, the Chinese need to make sure that massive food relief is distributed to all the North Koreans. The Chinese will need to supervise this distribution and they need to get it under way now.
It would be nice to think that this time the Communist Chinese will act with firmness and humanity. Bearing in mind though the general selfish crude materialism and lack of a moral compass in China's foreign policy, the odds for the wretched North Koreans do not look very good.

To my utter amazement, the Swedes, who normally wallow like invertebrates in a swamp of appeasement when it comes to Islam, have responded with commendable firmness in the face of a conspiracy to kill cartoonist Lars Vilks. Lars Vilks mocked Mohamed by putting his head on the body of a dog. When a plot was uncovered with US citizen "Jihad Jane" Colleen LaRose as Vilks self appointed executioner, the Swedes suddenly discovered that they had a constitution that included the right to freedom of expression. The national broadcaster and three Swedish newspapers printed the cartoon in defence of this right. The newspapers were Sweden's largest circulation Dagens Nyheter and Expressen and, yes, Malmo's Sydsvenska Dagbladet. Maybe Malmo isn't such a total Islamist stronghold after all. Not yet.

The misogynist, intolerant and violent ideology of Islam has suffered a major set back in Holland. Vying for first place nationally in the Dutch polls with the Christian Democrats, Wilders's Freedom Party in local elections a few days ago, put up only two candidates for maximum effect and minimum campaigning.They won in Almere near Amsterdam with 22% and came second in the Hague.The Christian Democrat government collapsed over Afghanistan a week ago and in June national elections are expected to result in a new coalition that will include the Freedom Party. Adios Sharia and Islamic bullying! Wilders has stated that Muslims have nothing to fear provided they abide by the laws of the land.

Whilst welcoming this triumph for secularism and civilisation, I think Wilders needs to row back from wanting the Koran banned. The Koran is replete with odious passages but let the people find these themselves and draw their own conclusions. Banning the Koran would be as daft as banning Mein Kampf. It would also allow Muslims to caste themselves in one of their favourite roles; that of the poor, misunderstood and persecuted victims.

Being a woman in an Islamic state is not great, being one in Saudi Arabia is clearly a nightmare. When Sawsan Salim went to court to bring a case against two judges for years of sexual harrasment, a panel of judges, including the two against whom she was complaining, decided that there was no case to answer and because she had furthermore appeared in court without a male guardian she was the guilty party. Sentence; 300 lashes and 18 months in the slammer. Would there be much left of you to imprison after 300 lashes?

As a physicist who taught physics in the dim and distant past, I thought I would check out its teaching now. Not great, to put it mildly. Here is a question from the British AQA examination board set in March 2009 in a GCSE physics exam. This exam is taken by 15-16 year olds. Could a physics question at this level be dumbed down any more? What could passing this "exam" possibly do other than prove a rather modest level of literacy? Was this question a warm up ? Something to give the poor dears a little confidence at the start ? In that case why not have something like this:

Q. When is there more sunlight ? Tick A or B.

A. At night.
B. During the day.

If the question was a warm up, things don't get much more challenging or to do with physics as you proceed through the paper. Here is the last half of the very last question.

You are allowed a calculator. Use it to multiply two numbers together. Well done!! You have now got a GCSE in physics. Congratulations.
The 13+ exam used for entry at ages 12/13 years into private secondary schools is of a higher standard than this. As a consequence, kids in the state system are 3 to 4 years behind those in the private system. They never catch up. This is the scandal of the education that Britain now gives the 95% or more of its children who cannot afford private education.

Abroad, in the gravely mistaken belief that this will secure its energy requirements, it supports the genocidal Islamists of Khartoum and the lunatic ayatollahs of Teheran. Both these regimes will fall quite soon. When that happens, the people of the Sudan and Iran will not be remembering the supporters of their oppressors in a kindly light.
So what? Well its good to see Obama showing some backbone and giving self defence arms to the Taiwanese and also announcing that he will meet with the Dalai Lama. In a typical froth, the Communists have declared that these moves will not help US-Chinese relations. So what ? Exactly what have the Communist Chinese done for America? They have flooded the States with cheap goods putting millions out of work* and they have refused to put the slightest pressure on Teheran over its nuclear weapons programme.
The Chinese Communists need to aspire to a little bit of the intelligence and decency of the Dalai Lama. They need to behave.

*Before I get accused of holding a naive view of the imbalance of trade between the West and Communist China, lets remember that it is not a level playing field. Communist China is only able to undercut because ( i ) it has a savage control of its labour keeping wages down and making strikes illegal and ( ii ) it is totally unbridled when it comes to giving its manufacturers massive subsidies.

Yesterday Geert Wilders appeared at a pre-trial hearing charged with insulting Islam.

The Dutch have much to be proud of. William the Silent who helped see off the mighty Spaniards, Erasmus the great humanist who stood for moderation, freewill and a reformed Catholic Church ( He didn't get it but he did try ), the innumerable painters, the great engineers, inventive shipwrights and bold seafarers. Above all, the founding of the Dutch Republic in an age of absolute monarchies. When Cromwell put down English absolutism he did so inspired by the Dutch.

I am half Dutch and proud of it but today I am angry and ashamed at what a cowed and frightened Dutch government is doing to Geert Wilders the leader of its principle political opponents. Geert Wilders is being prosecuted for describing Islam as misogynist, intolerant and violent and comparing it to Nazism. Although I think Wilders was over the top in furthermore calling for the ban of the Koran, his view of Islam is one that many would agree with. It shouldn't of course matter whether I or anyone else thought it was or was not fair comment. The West is the light of the world because it fought long and hard for the right to say anything about anything.

The currently ruling Dutch take a different view. This is probably because they are spiritual dwarfs bent on besmirching their country's good name for electoral advantage. In a December 2009 poll, the ruling Christen Democratish Appel ( ADP ) were level pegging with Wilders's Freedom Party. Getting Wilders banged up and banning his party would save their wretched bacon.( Not for long though because the Dutch would find others to represent human dignity and honesty )

If Geert Wilders looses our fight for freedom of speech, Holland is diminished and the Islamic darkness will spread yet further through the rest of Europe. We know that the Islamic states have been trying to make criticism of religion a UN enforced no-no. This prosecution through the proxy of the Lost Dutch is one important prong of their many attacks. The Fraudsters are the so called scientists who have manufactured graphs like the famous "hockey stick" that presents global temperatures as roughly constant over the last thousand years or so and then rising dramatically in the last fourty. The Village Idiots are the politicians and civil servants who believe the "hockey stick" Hollywood disaster scenario. The Hustlers are the hordes who have already cashed in on the Domesday scenario and see no reason why the gravy train should stop. The Saints are those who hope that the scare will make governments get serious about population control, protecting bio-diversity, forests, air and water quality and developing renewable resources.
The irony is that the Saints's good cause is riding on the back of a complete nonsense. Lets hope that when the nonsense finally becomes evident to all, the Saints and all of us come out with some worthwhile progress.
The trouble for the Fraudsters and Village Idiots is graphically shown above. It was hotter in the Middle Ages ( when there was no Industrial CO2 ) than it is now. The world temperatures have been rising since before the Industrial Revolution and have been falling back since 2000.
The cooler period shown is when the Thames froze over.
To rub the point in : CO2 levels were lower in the Middle Ages than they are now. The Middle Ages were hotter than now with less CO2; therefore, CO2 levels do not relate to global temperature in any significant way.

Sir,Those who attack Lord Lawson, the Times and others for publicising doubts about the case made for anthropogenic CO2 leading to a catastrophic global warming are doing none of us a favour. In science, criticism and peer review are essential. It is now a matter of public record that some of the results, upon which the IPCC relies so heavily, produced by the East Anglian Climate Research Unit ( CRU ) and at least one other institution fall well short of proper scientific standards.
By way of illustration, here are three of the worrying instances that have been revealed. Using growth rings from Siberian trees, Prof. K.Briffa of CRU produced the famous "hockey-stick" graph that showed world temperatures as being essentially constant over a thousand years and then rising rapidly in recent times. It was only when he was forced by a British Journal to reveal the data from which he produced his graph that it was found that he had used a very small and selected sample of trees. When a colleague went back and took a much larger and random sample, the hockey stick shape vanished. These later results were never published. Again, Prof. P. Jones Director of CRU, who was also asked in vain to produce the raw data upon which some of his important opinion forming publications were based, recently announced that due to " storage problems " they had been lost. Finally, another anthropogenic CO2 disaster champion on whom the IPCC depends is Prof. Michael Mann of Penn State University who simply took a graph derived from Finnish lake sedimentology and turned it upside down. The original Finnish results showed a fifteen hundred year temperature record with a medieval rise and a recent fall in temperature. Turned upside down, the embarrassing medieval rise ( how could temperature rise occur without the CO2 of a modern industrial society ? ) becomes a cooling period and the equally displeasing recent temperature fall becomes a lovely hockey-stick rise. This is not serious science, it does need to be exposed and it gravely undermines the position of the IPCC.

According to the IPCC, the majority of scientists beleive that CO2 produced by human activity will drive the earth's temperature up to catastrophic levels. Melting polar ice, sea levels soaring up, draughts and other apocalyptic disasters will displace, starve and drown millions. No, the majority do not agree and no, CO2 is not going to do us in.

1. THE BAD SCIENCE.

The doomsday scenario is based on a small amount of astonishingly bad "research" that gave poor Al Gore and us the iconic hockey stick graph. Here, world temperature, that is depicted as essentially constant over the last thousand years or so, suddenly streaks up in the last fourty. A lot of the hockey stick "science" originates at the University of East Anglia. One leading light there, Phil Jones, refused to provide his raw data for peer review ( A checking by other scientists in your field that the conclusions drawn from measurements are tenable ) saying " I am not handing over 25 years of research data so that someone can prove me wrong." Phil Jones had cobbled together a hockey stick graph from weather station temperature measurements held by his unit. He refused to explain how he got the hockey stick and eventually announced that due to "storage difficulties " all the data had been lost. The dog eat the measurements. Another leading light, Keith Briffa, made a runaway hockey stick graph based on a very small ( 10 ) and selected number of Siberian tree ring growth measurements. If you pick your trees right you can give the temperature versus time graph any shape you want. When a colleague of Briffa's returned and took measurements from a much larger number of trees at random, the hockey stick vanished. These results were never published. Yet another doomsday champion, Michael " Upside Down " Mann, took lake sediment results that showed a medieval warm period and a recent temperature drop and simply turned the graph upside down. Hey presto; no medieval natural warming, lovely contemporary temperature rise. For details of how the hockey stick was carefully deconstructed and shown to be drivel see Climate Catastrophe Cancelled. The importance to the case being made by the IPCC of the hockey graph cannot be overstated. No hockey stick, no case. There is no hockey stick.
There was a warming in the nineties but it was a lot less than the clearly natural medieval warming mentioned above. Since that spike in the nineties, the world temperature has steadied and now declined. Remember last year's snow, the big Chinese freeze? What no one disputes is that since the end of the last Ice Age 10,000 years ago, temperatures with some blips, like when the Thames froze over in the 17th Century, have been steadily rising. As have sea levels. In the long term, of course, the world's temperature has always swung up and down and back again.
Amongst the growing body of reputable scientists who do not take the IPCC seriously, the opinion is that it is the natural activity cycles of the sun that control our warmth or lack thereof. If CO2 generated by humans plays a role it is probably marginal.

2. THOSE WHO LAP UP THE BAD SCIENCE.

The question that needs to be answered is why have so many of the world's power brokers bought into doom by anthropogenic CO2.
From the beginning, the bad science band wagon was driven by the media. Happy times don't sell copy, Hollywood disaster scenarios do. This media frenzy was sustained by the easily harmonised sentiments of a grand alliance of political forces. Drawn to the colours were both those who have always loathed America and capitalism and those who had reasoned concerns about both. How pleasant to be a European champagne socialist or a third world dictator and be able to denounce the West and America in particular as the Great Polluters. How comforting for Al Gore to be able to have a go at the wicked Republicans and their big business associates. But how to explain the adherence of Western leaders like Gordon Brown who is not a dictator nor quite yet a rejected politician ? Here we come back to the nitty gritty that's to say the credence given to the bad science of places like the University of East Anglia. If Gordon Brown's scientific advisers tell him that the hockey stick is real, Gordon is not going to do what his advisers should have done and demand peer review of data. Gordon Brown trusts his advisers and gets swept along.
Ironically, the band wagon was also jumped upon for the very best reasons by the Greens who quite rightly want to preserve fossil fuels and robustly develop renewable energy sources. This enhancing of the Green agenda may turn out to be one of the few positive outcomes of the CO2 scare.
Who else profits? Certainly those who live on low lying land threatened by natural water level rise or land subsidence are, and I would in their place too, demanding compensation from the fossil fuel guzzlers. In fact any part of the world damaged by draught, flooding or natural disaster now has carte blanche to present the bill to the big CO2 producers. Whether they will cough up is another matter. Others happy to go for the ride are those who think they can levy CO2 taxes without shooting their economies in the foot and yes, all the scientists who are getting big fat juicy grants by managing to insert the magic words climate change into their research proposals.
This juggernaut has a lot of weight and momentum. When it crashes, as it will, it's going to be very messy.
The fact is that what Al Gore trumpeted as an Inconvenient Truth has turned out to be a Convenient Lie for a horde of people and interests.

You may have noticed that as a prelude to the imminent IPCC's Copenhagen jamboree, a lot of governements and media are frantically hyping up the most lurid human carbon dioxide end of the world scenarios. But wait, just as the concert was meant to be approaching its peak, one of the heavy weights has put down its bassoon. Gosh, its the BBC !

In a recent report by one of its scientific correspondents, the Beeb has conceded that there is after all no unanimity amongst scientists about what drives global temperature. Is it going up catastrophically because of us or has it simply been rising slowly and steadily with a few hiccups since the last ice age in a way that is largely independent of our activities?

What the Beeb has admitted is that notwithstanding increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide, the earth's temperature has not increased since 1998. Since then the globe has cooled. The Beeb recognises that the highish temperatures of the 1990s might have been due to a natural cycle in the ocean temperature. Also that fluctuations in solar energy and the flux of cosmic particles reaching the earth may have a more important overall role than our carbon dioxide. As the flimsiness of the "science" behind the alarmists begins to be exposed, we should be seeing more and more doubters and apostates.

It is now an offence to criticise or mock Islam. You can apparently say what you like about any other religion. But with Islam, say our rulers; don't go there.

This is what Ben and Sharon Vogelenzang found when in the course of a discussion about Islam and Christianity with a Muslim woman they dared to say that Mohamed was a warlord and that Muslim women's wear was a form of bondage. One wonders where on earth they got those ideas from. They are being charged in Merseyside under section 5 of the Public Order Act; causing religiously aggravated alarm and distress. Lets hope the jury is not made up entirely of dhimmis*.

*A dhimmi is the Islamic term used to describe non Muslims who reside in Muslim countries. A dhimmi has little or no legal rights but is legally obliged to show total reverence for and subservience to all things Islamic. As an example of the total subjugation of dhimmis, the Coptic Christians in "moderate" Egypt have to write to the Egyptian Prime Minister for permission to replace a single broken pane of glass in any of their churches. The same of course applies for any other repair of any description. If petty regulation doesn't work then physical violence as seen recently in Pakistan is definitely on the menu. The general idea is to make life so unbearable for non Muslims that they either convert to Islam or emigrate.

The trouble here is that we have rather a lot of British non-Muslims behaving like dhimmis. These curious people who are found in offices of state as well as amongst the population at large will do anything to please Muslims at the expense of the rest of the population. We have nurses being sacked from hospitals for wearing crucifixes whilst in the same hospitals Muslims are free to wear the hajib. We have the M.O.D using halal butchers for all the armed forces Muslim or not. We have charges brought against the makers of a Dispatches documentary program that exposed the violently misogynist and racist sermons of preachers in British mosques. (Three years on and ,as far as I know, no action has been taken against the preachers or for that matter against the members of the police and Crown Prosecution Service who decided to go for the whistle blowers). We have the Whitechapel gallery removing nudes from an exhibition for fear of offending the Muslim community ( Why doesn't the Whitechapel get on with it and rename itself the East London Islamic Multi Media Centre ? ). The list of similar actions of the British honorary dhimmis is long and depressing. I guess the only thing we can do is publicise and denounce what's happening.

Last Saturday, on the pretext that someone had defiled a copy of the Koran, hundreds of armed Muslims attacked Christians in the town of Gojira and nearby villages in Pakistan's East Punjab. At least eight people including women and children were burnt alive in petrol bombed houses. There were also an unknown total of fatalities and wounded as the Muslims fired at fleeing Christians. The local police merely stood by and watched. Another story "missed" by the Guardian.

A friend of mine looking at this blog asked how I was able to spend so much time on atrocities committed by Muslims. Wasn't it a narrow focus, wasn't it polluting my mind? Yes, there are times when I do feel thoroughly disgusted and befouled pouring over the details of the intolerance, violence and misogyny of Islam. Times when I wish I only had a bee in my bonnet about Neo-Platonism or oak trees. A narrow focus on Islam? Sure, that's because though there are plenty of nasty perps out there they are at present all outclassed by the Muslim gendercidal monsters. Cant help myself.

Under Iran's Islamic law a virgin cannot be executed. An ex prison guard has revealed how this problem is circumvented. The virgin is simply "married" to a guard who then rapes her legitimately as her "husband" on the eve of her execution. After he has raped his victim the "husband" can divorce his "wife" so that she can then be "married" raped and "divorced" by a succession of prison officials and their mates. Girls as young as nine have been dispatched in this way. This is not just gross misogeny, this is pure degeneracy.
The "marriage" and subsequent rape of women prisoners is of course not restricted to virgins. All women in Iranian prisons can be and are very often raped in this Islamic way.

Despite increasing atmospheric CO2, the global temperatures have recently shown a gentle decrease. Increasing CO2 is not without its problems such as acidification of the seas. It doesn't however seem to have had any upward pushing effect on world temperature .
The importance of the graph above lies in the fact that if CO2 was having a significant warming effect, the troposphere where it resides would have to show warming. It clearly does not.

Meanwhile, the possible prime controller of our temperature, the sun, continues to remain in an unusually quite state with a protracted absence of spots. The last time the sun had a period of inactivity of this duration was in the early nineteen tens. A century ago.

No spots means a reduced solar magnetic field reaching out to deflect from the earth deep space cosmic rays that seed clouds that in their turn cool the planet. The last time there was a major period of solar spotlessness ( the Maunder Minimum in the 17thC ) the Thames froze over.

Mousavi Biography

The avuncular looking "reformer" was born to a tea merchant in Kharmeneh east Iran on 29th September 1941. Student activist in Freedom Movement of Iran a nationalistic religious party. Got a master's degree in architecture 1969 at the National University of Teheran. After demise of Shah in 1979, he was a founding member of the Islamic Republic. For, amongst other demonstrations of loyalty, his support of Ayatollah Khomeni's execution of several thousand of the new regime's opponents, he was appointed prime minister in 1981. Held the post til the end of the Iran-Iraq war in 1989.

In 1982 he was a founding member of Hezbollah and on it's leadership council. In 1984 he created, along the lines of the KGB, the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS). MOIS is the principle organisation that powers and directs the ayatollah's reign of oppression and terror. It is responsible for the detention, torture and execution of dissidents at home, terror and the liquidation of opponents abroad. While he was still Prime Minister in 1989, a further at least six thousand dissidents according to Amnesty were murdered. The total toll of those put to death on his watch has yet to be established and will in time see his indictment in the Hague on crimes against humanity charges.

From 1989 to 2009, Mousavi was out of front stage politics, probably active behind the scene, passing his time officially as a teacher of architecture with painting as a hobby.

The return to office of the Iranian incumbent Ahmadinejad is good news. The hardliners musical chairs that has been described in the media here as an election has kept out the so called reformist Mousavi. Mousavi is not a reformer; he is a prominent supporter of the regime who whilst in office was responsible for a colossal massacre of dissidents in the eighties.
A Mousavi presidency would have breathed fresh life into the rotten corpse of the Iranian theocracy as the West has chosen to dress him up as someone reasonable with whom business could be done. Someone to cosy up to, someone to appease. Mousavi is gone and now the decay and demise of the ayatollahs reign can happily proceed unhindered by the West's outright and shameful support. In the sham "elections" being held this Friday in Iran, the choice is between the lunatic Ahmadinejad and the smiling rather avuncular looking Mousavi. If the Iranians have any sense they will stay at home.

According to Nobel Prize winning Iranian lawyer Shirin Ebadi, Iran has now overtaken China in the executions per capita league. Most disturbingly, a number of those executed were under 18. In the last three years of the 32 juvenile executions in the world, 26 were in Iran. Iran currently has 130 more juveniles on death row. Included in the total of 346 women,men and children often hung publicly from cranes in 2008 and the 120 dispatched already this year, were political prisoners and those, mostly women and girls, deemed guilty of sexual misdemeanours.
The ayatollahs taste for killing children and females is not surprising given that they take their moral compass from the late Grand Ayatollah Khomeini. Khomeini ruled that it was permissible to have sex with female babies. What a man, what a regime!

The surface area covered by ice in the Artic Sea is today 13,527,656 km2. This is the highest that it has been at this time of the year since before 2002. After dipping in 2007, the surface area of ice has made a record recovery. In the Antartic the ice coverage is simply growing.

the building of new nuclear power stations,
we need to take a look at what it proposes
to do about the industry's number one problem.
How is the UK going to deal with nuclear waste
disposal? About 5% of nuclear power's waste by
volume produces 95% of its radioactivity. In
2006, the Committee for Radioactive Waste
Management (CoRWM) recommended that this dangerous
"high level waste" should be disposed of underground
It would be fixed in a glass matrix
and sealed in steel canisters. The canisters
would then be buried in clay lined and plugged
bore holes that are drilled out of the rock.
Trusting in the cushioning and screening
of the clay and the stability of the rock,
the hot stuff is left to cool down for
however long it takes.

This sounds kind of O.K. until you realise
that there is no provision for inspecting
the canisters to check that they havent failed.
Out of sight, out of mind. A failure, not too
fantastic a possibility even over a short time
span, would cause leakage into the rock and
water table system. One of the nastier waste products,
plutonium 239, takes 24,000 years to loose
half its activity.

Greenpeace's Jean Sorley has denounced the plan as an
environmental time bomb. If, for security reasons,
the canisters need to kept underground, then they
should be stashed in open racks where they can be
readily checked. This also means that if new safe disposal technology arrives,the stored material can be easily retrieved.
The US Yucca mountain underground repository
project offers a proper model that should be adopted
worldwide. Here, with the waste containers in open tunnels,
their is provision for both monitoring and retrieval.
The British CoRWM proposal with neither is nothing more than a cheap and very dangerous folly. It should not be allowed to go ahead.

The Japanese Society of Energy and Resources is a government advising panel. Three of its five members have now broken with the IPCC to declare that, on the available evidence, it is likely that climate is driven by natural cycles and not human industrial activity.

Kenya Kusano, a director at the Japanese Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology, says that the IPCC's computer model of an anthropogenic, monotonic and continuous temperature rise owes more to astrology than real science. What is clear is that a small rise in temperature has occured world wide since the Maunder Minimum ( When the Thames froze over ) in the 17th C. What is also apparently true is that despite an accelerated outpouring of carbon dioxide temperatures have not risen since around 2000. The recent lack of solar activity may be a controlling factor. In the absence of the magnetic fields produced by solar activity, cosmic ray particles reach the upper atmosphere to seed clouds and cool things down. A more convincing theory than Gore's blarney.

Obama has now set off on his love tour of Muslim countries telling them in advance how wonderful Islam is and how much it is valued in the US. Lots of folks back home do not seem to be entirely behind him on that one. Anyways, before leaving for his first port of call in Turkey, he told European leaders that they should admit Turkey to the EU as a way of demonstrating how much Europe also cared for Islam. He was immediately and sharply put in his place by Sarkozy who informed him that it was up to the European Union alone to decide on a country's membership. " I have always been opposed to this entry and I remain opposed" He added. France and Austria are committed to holding referenda on this issue. The idea of 100 million Turkish Muslims being part of the EU is not something that the majority of the French or Austrian public are terribly keen on. A no from either country would be a veto and the end of the story. Both Angela Merkel and Nicolas Sarkozy favour offering Turkey a special economic partnership. Sounds enough and fair to me which is what most Europeans, including the British who will not be allowed to express an opinion on the matter, probably think too.

Neville Chamberlain was a decent man who did not want a repeat of the First World War's carnage. He thought he could talk down/buy off Hitler. Today the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Omar. He may not get thrown in the slammer for a while but he is definitely on his way. At last. First time its happened to a sitting head of state. This has upset a lot of big wigs like the Chinese* leadership and other ruling princes of darkness.

Al-Bashir is not just responsible for the Darfur horrors. He was also a leader behind the Muslim war of extermination waged against the Southern Sudanese Christians and Animists. That little jihadic episode that preceded Darfur, involving mass murder, mass rape, mass forced conversions to Islam and wholesale enslavement, cost a conservatively estimated 2 million lives. This wretched criminal is not the only nasty in the Khartoum regime but taking him down is an excellent start.

Oh, and lets not forget that when the Arab Muslims of Khartoum go for the local Black Muslims of Darfur they are not inspired by racism alone. Again when they go for the Black Christians and Animists of South Sudan it's not just that nice old mix of racism and religious bigotry that stokes their barbarism. A person denouncing violence is prosecuted for it in his own country and made persona non grata for it in another. How marvelous. Geert Wilders was barred from entering the U.K. for making a connection between the violence in the sermons of some immams, that in some Koranic writings and Islamic terrorism. This, and his admittedly intemperate call for the banning of the Koran which he compares to Mein Kampf, was deemed to present so grave a danger to British public order that he had to be kept out.
No doubt his presence here might have resulted in public disorder. However, what we all know is that this disorder would not be caused by Methodists having asthmatic rage attacks and running amok in the streets. If his visit did result in disorder it would be solely due to the violence of Muslims who cannot bear to be accused of being violent. The irony of this is sadly always lost on the Muslim world.
The government should have said, if it so wished, that Islam is a wonderfully woman friendly, peaceful and tolerant religion but it would defend Wilders's right to express his opinions and that anyone responding to these views by violence or the threat of violence would be severely dealt with by the law.
It is clear that Gordon Brown's action in the Wilders case is not solely due to moral and intellectual debility. Mostly it was inspired by short-termist opportunism. He and his party are simply pandering to the Muslim constituency. This continuous appeasement of all things Muslim will not in the long run do either this country or its Muslim community any good.
Geert Wilders has never called for violence against anybody. You have to smile therefore when you find that today the British government has rolled out the red carpet for Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood big shot Sheik Wagdi Ghuniem. Hamas and the Brotherhood have violent anti-semitism as the least of their problems.

Homicidal Fatwas: Unpunished Crimes: Contract Killings.

Fatwas come as rulings and orders. Khomeni issued a fatwa that ruled that it was permissible for Muslims to have sex with female babies. Twenty years ago and more famously a fatwa of his ordered that it was the duty of Muslims to kill Salman Rushdie for writing the Satanic Verses. In the West this murderous type of fatwa has become all too familiar driving into hiding and, if their government can be bothered, into police protection a number of people who have mocked or criticised Islam. Most recently the Danish cartoonists, Dutch M.P. Geert Wilders and Austrian M.P. Susannah Winter have been forced to live under its constant threat of death. What has contributed greatly to this scandalous state of affairs is the total failure of Western governments to react.

For all the religious drivel with which they are dressed these fatwas are nothing more than publicly called for contract killings. They should be treated as such. We know who the individuals are who are commissioning them. Why have our governments not seen to it that international arrest warrants are issued? As we know, the national judiciaries of Wilders and Winter have been prompt to prosecute them for denouncing the abuses of Islam. Action against those contracting for their murder; Big Zero.

International warrants might not be enforceable in Iran or Pakistan but they would send a robust, appropriate and long overdue message. The non-Muslim world is not going to passively wring its hands and tolerate anymore these criminal attacks on its citizens and freedom of expression. The author of a homicidal fatwa would then also be disagreeably surprised to find that when he goes on his next trip, to shop at Harrods here or visit his brain surgeon anywhere in the civilised world, he could well be end up in court as the principle defendent in a contract killing prosecution .

When a peer asked Geert Wilders M.P. to come and show Fitna for discussion, Lord Ahmed bellowed that he would mobilize 10,000 Muslims to prevent this happening and take the peer to court. The Dutch government is taking M.P. Geert Wilders, author of Fitna and fearless denouncer of the Islamisation of Europe, to court for "insulting" Islam.No doubt in Holland any criticism of Islam is now a criminal offence.For the first time in my life I am ashamed of being half Dutch. But wait! Holland is not alone. In Austria, M.P. Suzanne Winter has been fined £ 24,000 and given a three months suspended sentence also for insulting Islam. She had apparently described Mohamed as a blood thirsty paedophile. How could anyone possibly think that? Western governments are obviously falling over each other to attack freedom of expression and grovel at the feet of the religion of peace. So what's new? Not much.
You can and should sign the protest petition that has been addressed to the Dutch authorities.

There will soon probably be something similar for the Austrian dhimmis.

There may of course be an upside to the case being brought against Wilders. He is a fighter and in the full glare of a court he will have the opportunity to make the thing rebound on the perps by publicising loud and clear both the contempt for freedom of the present Dutch rulers and the hideousness that permeates Islam. This court case will probably increase the vote for Wilders Freedom Party which scored 6% of the vote in the last Dutch elections making it the fourth largest party in Parliament. For me the importance and only* value of Obama's election is that he is black. His election is a tribute to American Democracy.

Glad as I am that a black person made it to the White House ( I'd rather have had Condi Rice ), I don't rate Obama the man. I think he is just another suit, another lawyer. Stayed up late to watch the McCain-Obama townhall debate. It didn't matter that McCain had more points ( Principally that Obama, contrary to the claims of his two autobiographies and many spin doctors, is not a reformer ), McCain is simply not eye or ear candy. He is a poor orator and doesn't look great. Not great on TV where it doesn't matter what you say so much as how you sound and look. McCain was a stumpy little figure walking around the stage for no apparent reason his rambling burblings punctuated with cringe making " My friends, this..." and " My friends, that..." He said some good things but it was all lost in his appalling sounds and visuals. To be honest, he looked like a slightly deranged garden gnome who had lost his pointy hat. Sad day for the Republicans.

Obama was his usual vacuous and suave self. He won hands down.

Both were courteous and reserved their serious attacks for the presidential hopefuls. Biden, as one would expect, had more detail and depth in his responses. He answered all the questions and seemed quite likable . Palin, much no doubt to the chagrin of the Obamettes, didn't implode. She didnt always answer questions put but then she has not got 40 years knowledge. She did however stand her ground offering herself and McCain as the mavericks who would shake up and change American politics. She spoke eloquently of her taking on the big enterprises in Alaska and the American need for energy self-sufficiency. She pointed out that the Iraq surge, opposed by Obama and supported by Mc Cain, was working. She spoke in her hallmark easy folksy way that connects so well with Main street. She came across as the young, fresh and energetic person she is. You could believe that she would perhaps clean out Washington. Just as Obama beats McCain in the youth and looks department, so with Palin and Biden. For me she won when she winked at her dad in the audience.
She could have landed more of a punch by pointing out that although Obama's several autobiographies and the Democratic spin machine portray Obama as a reformer his record to date shows no evidence of this at all. Obama has worked the Democratic machine ably and it has worked well for him but he has never rocked the boat or challenged his party. He has always towed the party line. See David Fredosso's book The case against Barack Obama. There were no knock out blows in this debate but one thing is for sure Palin saved herself and gave the Republican campaign a new lease of life.

London Island Airport. Good Idea!

Boris Johnson has commissioned a feasibility study for the building of a large airport on an artificial island in the Thames estuary. It would be an international hub with a fast connection to central London and ten or more runways that could be used round the clock. This is the kind of grand vision that is needed not the piece meal extensions of the existing grubby and polluting airports that serve London and the South East. Coming in and taking off over the North Sea, planes could fly 24 hours a day as there would be no night time restrictions because of noise pollution. I've stayed in Denmark Hill and had to use ear plugs to sleep because from 4.0 am onwards jets were roaring over at the rate of 2 per minute. Denmark Hill is about 40 miles from Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stanstead. Pity the poor buggers who live closer to any of those sorry places. The Island Hub will replace them all.
The Hub will happen and like the Channel Tunnel we'll wonder why we didn't do it sooner. It has of course its opponents. Prominent amongst these is the BAA who own Heathrow, Gatwick et al. They are making the same kind of noises as the ferry companies made when they tried to block the tunnel project. Dont worry about them Boris; just get on with it.

British justice is not just circling the drain. It is not just dying. It is down the plug hole and dead. With a nod and a wink from Labour, 8th century Sharia law courts have been given equal standing with the British law that used to defend our liberties and was so hard fought for.

What has happened is that Sharia courts have been given the status of arbitration tribunals the rulings of which are enforced by the existing justice courts of the land. This has been effected on the quiet and has already resulted in perversions of British law. As an example, in a recent case where a man gave no specific instructions as to how his estate was to be divided between his children, a Sharia court ruled that his daughters should receive a lesser share than his sons. Under British law each child would have been treated equally. Again men guilty of serious domestic violence were simply sentenced to anger management courses. These and any other Sharia ruling are now unchallengeable and can be, if required, enforced by the existing British courts.

What has been allowed is the negation of the primacy of British law. There are now two equally valid law systems. There is of course no reason why there should not be Sharia courts, Church of England courts, Jewish courts or for that matter Grand Tribunals of the Penge Globular Clusterits. In the past, people were free to abide by the rulings of these types of organisations in the knowledge that when there were disputes ultimate appeal could be made to the magnificence of British law. No longer. Now, if the immam says you have the right to beat six shades of blue out of your wife, the cops can be sent round to make sure it happens.

Fortunately some are waking up to the enormity of what has happened. While the Labour perps and the Libdems are keeping quiet, the Tories are on to it. Shadow Home Secretary Dominic Grieve said " These ( Sharia ) tribunals have no place in passing binding decisions in divorce or criminal hearings. Far from handling more ( As Labour intends ) criminal cases they should be handling none at all. " Lets hope the Tories can force Labour to reconsider and sink double fast this shameful and pandering project.

Sarah Palin; Two Cheers.

Having read about Sarah Palin as an Alaskan mayor and governor it's clear she didnt get her 80% approval ratings on looks alone. She took on corruption and vested interests, including the oil companies, and sorted them in short order. Last night she gave an acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention that was masterly even presidential. It got the folk going and it deserved to. She is very likable and a great orator and put the conservative hard work and small government case well. After complimenting Obama on his good aspects she laid into him for his lack of substance and showmanship. Here's a man, she said, who has authored two biographies but not one major law or reform not even at state senate level. True. She was also very effective in her talking up of McCain the principled and maverick war hero.

I have two problems though with her which are core. Firstly,she opposes a woman's right to have an abortion. I believe that a woman's body is her own and she should never be forced to carry a pregnancy against her wishes. Palin's stand on this issue will cost her a lot of young and liberal women's votes. Secondly, she supports the teaching of creationism which is not just daft but also dangerous. This should loose her the support of anyone with a passing knowledge of science. For all that, I wish Palin well. She might yet see the light on abortion and creationism. It could happen. You never know.She is certainly charismatic, decent and a fighter ( As she said; a pitbull with lipstick ). I also quite like her running mate. As President, McCain will not be rushing off to to have tea with the ayatollahs.

Global Cooling; An Inconvenient Truth. Sea Ice Surface Area Increases in Artic.

Good old serious stats freak Digital Diatribes, have produced a nice graph ( worth watching as it automatically updates day by day )showing the annual variation in the surface area of the Artic Ocean covered with ice. What is revealed is that in line with recent global cooling as seen with the particularily cold winter of 2007/2008, the Artic ice coverage is making a fine come back. At the beginning of August 2007 the total ice covered area was about 6x10^6 km^2, at the beginning of August this year the figure was 7x10^6 km^2. This represents an increase of 17%.

If as some now suspect, sun spot activity ( rather down for a while ) is more important than carbon dioxide in controlling the earth's temperature, then its continuing absence presages more cold, more ice. A bit of an Inconvenient Truth not currently being reported in the Earth-Gonna-Burn-An-Humans-Are-Solely-To-Blame media. Ah well, lets see.

When Leonidas's Spartans and their allies were marching north to meet Xerxes's invading hordes at Thermopylae they ran into a lot of refugees fleeing south. One of these, trying to convey how impossibly high the odds against the Greeks were stacked , told Dieneces that the Persian archers were so numerous that when they "loosened off their arrows the sun was blotted out. " Great" answered Dieneces " we'll fight in the shade." And so they did, like lions, and although they were betrayed and cut down to the last man they set an example that led later to the great Greek victories at Salamis and Plataea. The Persians were trashed and never returned. Western civilisation was saved.

We all owe the Greeks a very long list of good things. To mention a few; the Olympics, their arts, their science, their philosophy and their bravery. Let's not forget it.

Turkey's Islamic Bus Rolls On. EU applauds Islamist Victory.

Turkey's Islamist party the AKP, that declares democracy is the bus to Islam ( You use democracy to install an Islamic tyranny ) narrowly avoided loosing its wheels yesterday when six out of eleven judges on Turkey's constitutional court voted for it and its leaders to be banned. Seven votes were needed. All the court could do was cut some funding for the party and warn it to show more respect for Turkey's secular traditions. No doubt a lot of pressure was applied to the judges to leave the AKP to go its merry way not least by the simpering cloud cuckooland Eurocrats who cant wait for an Islamist Turkey to be the most populous member of the EU.

Having arrested a number of its prominent opponents last week, accusing them of belonging to the Ergenekon secularist grouping supposedly plotting to overthrow their government, the AKP can now quietly get on with removing the rest of the secularists from the armed forces, the bureaucracy and judiciary. What does it mean? Well, the AKP can then proceed to "reform" Kemal Ataturk's obstructively secular constitution. Also, the AKP model, already taken up by Morocco's Islamists, will spread to all those Muslim countries that are not yet Total Islamic Nutter States. Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt etc. In the short term for Turkey what it means is that if being a woman there was never great its going to get a lot worse double fast.

He has presented his court with the evidence of El Bashir's genocidal activities and is now waiting for the three presiding judges to agree to issue an arrest warrant. Right now China is hysterically trying to organise a UN obstruction of the richly deserved crimes against humanity indictment that the International Criminal Court will hopefully slap on the leaders of the Khartoum regime. China has two good reasons for trying to save El "Smiling Boy" Bashir and his cronies from the ICC. It has invested in Khartoum's petrol field development and it is of course an old hand at genocide. Clearing the Sudanese petrol fields of non-Muslims and Black Muslims in favour of Arab Muslims is the perfect project for Khartoum's blood thirsty, money grabbing, racist bigots ( Yes, all of that) and not something the Chinese loose a wink of sleep over. Here is an interesting report that suggests that sun spot activity is a much greater global temperature controller than our fossil fuel burning. Low sun spot activity, what we have been having of late, means cool planet earth.

Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming

Over the past year, anecdotal evidence for a cooling planet has exploded. China has its coldest winter in 100 years. Baghdad sees its first snow in all recorded history. North America has the most snowcover in 50 years, with places like Wisconsin the highest since record-keeping began. Record levels of Antarctic sea ice, record cold in Minnesota, Texas, Florida, Mexico, Australia, Iran, Greece, South Africa, Greenland, Argentina, Chile -- the list goes on and on.

No more than anecdotal evidence, to be sure. But now, that evidence has been supplanted by hard scientific fact. All four major global temperature tracking outlets (Hadley, NASA's GISS, UAH, RSS) have released updated data. All show that over the past year, global temperatures have dropped precipitously.

A compiled list of all the sources can be seen here. The total amount of cooling ranges from 0.65C up to 0.75C -- a value large enough to wipe out most of the warming recorded over the past 100 years. All in one year's time. For all four sources, it's the single fastest temperature change ever recorded, either up or down.

Scientists quoted in a past DailyTech article link the cooling to reduced solar activity which they claim is a much larger driver of climate change than man-made greenhouse gases. The dramatic cooling seen in just 12 months time seems to bear that out. While the data doesn't itself disprove that carbon dioxide is acting to warm the planet, it does demonstrate clearly that more powerful factors are now cooling it.

Let's hope those factors stop fast. Cold is more damaging than heat. The mean temperature of the planet is about 54 degrees. Humans -- and most of the crops and animals we depend on -- prefer a temperature closer to 70.

Historically, the warm periods such as the Medieval Climate Optimum were beneficial for civilization. Corresponding cooling events such as the Little Ice Age, though, were uniformly bad news.

The linked GISS graph was graphed for the months of January only, due to a limitation in the plotting program. Although I am an atheist, I am proud of a lot of my Christian inheritance and in particular the Protestant side of it. My Dutch mother was brought up a Lutheran and my French father a Roman Catholic. Puritans notwithstanding, the West would not have embraced the Enlightenment and the Emancipation of Women as much as it did without Protestantism. Again, I have a weak spot for the more liberal Protestant flowerings like the Methodists, the Quakers and yes the Church of England. A few days ago, the C of E voted for an uncompromising bill that will allow women to be ordained as bishops. Well done. I can almost, but not quite, forgive Rowan his unrelenting appeasement of Islam.

Let those in the C of E who can't bear the idea of women's equality crawl off to the darkness of Catholicism.

Lord Phillips, Sharia and Donut Worshipping Courts.

On the face of it, there's no reason why there should not be Sharia courts in Britain. I've changed my mind. As is the case already for the existing British Jewish and Christian courts and for that matter the Supreme Court of Donut-Worshippers, the rulings of Sharia courts would not be enforceable. If a Muslim man were to tell his wife three times " I divorce you " she might well be out on her arse on the pavement minus her kids under Sharia Law but the Muslim patriarch would not be able to call on the bobbies to put her there. If she objected that is. In theory she could go to the true courts of the land and get a humane divorce settlement where in all probability she would get guardianship of her children and it would be the male chauvinist pig who ends up bare arsed on the street. This is of course where the real problem lies. In most Muslim communities, unlike what goes on in say Jewish or Donut Worshipping ones, women are severely repressed and sometimes not even able to speak English. This means that they are unlikely to fight back against the injustices of Sharia.

What does one do ? I guess you have in fairness to let the Sharia courts be but mount massive educative programs to make it clear that their rulings have absolutely no binding value and will, if iniquitous, as understood by the true law of the land, or disputed be always overruled by the true law of the land.

In the West, increasingly comfortable with the regulation of opinion, Canada has been leading the way in the systematic assault on what can and cannot be said. A kangaroo court there that goes by the grandiose name of the Human Rights Tribunal is about to decide that those like Mark Steyn who describe Islam as it is should be fined, gagged and made to apologise. Although the " Tribunal " has not yet ruled on Steyn's"case", it has not in all its sorry history failed to find for plaintiffs. In this case the plaintiffs are Canadian Muslims who object to an excerpt from Steyn's book America Alone that was published in Maclean's magazine. America Alone is an excellent description of the Islamic birth rate time bomb and Islam's petro-dollar funded attack on Western values. He makes the point that while most of the West succumbs to censorship and self loathing, the US with its robust Freedom of Expression Laws stands alone in protecting progress and the civilised future. Lets hear it again. What does progress and civilisation depend on? Freedom of Expression. Its as simple as that.

There are of course even in the Land of the Free some who argue that the US should follow Canada and other Western nations down the path to limited freedom of expression. A wonderful example of these is the legal philosopher Jeremy Waldron. " It is not " he writes in last month's New York Review of Books " clear to me that the Europeans are mistaken when they say that a liberal democracy must take affirmative responsibility for protecting the atmosphere of mutual respect against certain forms of vicious attack". What Waldron is in fact championing is an" atmosphere of mutual respect" where non-Muslims refrain, in a proper observance of dhimmitude, from saying anything critical of Islam. Waldron should be awarded a prize for circumlocution but lets hope that the Americans don't take him and his mates too seriously. Oh, and here's a helpful idea in these difficult times; given Waldron's views with regard to freedom of expression, I am sure that if he applied for research monies to Gulf fund providers they would listen sympathetically. Research, any kind of research is freedom of expression. Go for it Jeremy!

Turkey, the EU, the Secularists and the Islamists.

Today, Tayip Erdogan and his ruling AK party got a well deserved slap down from Turkey's Constitutional Court. The AKP had wanted to reverse a law that forbade women from wearing head scarves at university, a law that was a core component of the heritage left by modern Turkey's founding secularist father Kemal Ataturk. So far only the AKP's Bekir Bozdag has dared to protest saying " This is interfering with both democracy and parliament's legislative authority ". Although this protest will be echoed in the West, it will not help the AKP which may in fact well be banned for its creeping Islamisation program by a second ruling to be delivered this autumn. There are enough urban Turks who are justly proud of Ataturk's secularist legacy and they with the Armed Forces and the Judiciary will no doubt check the Islamists for a while.

But for how long for? That question brings us to the interesting dependence of Turkish Islamism on Turkish membership of the EU. Erdogan's AKP has boasted that democracy is the bus to Islam. It is a sort of one person, one vote, once only take on democracy. You have a democratic election, you vote in an Islamist party and, hey presto, the Islamists ban the democracy that got them in. If you have heaven's rule on earth, who needs democracy? This irony is a serious problem throughout the Islamic world; if they were allowed to hold truly democratic elections, most Muslim countries would, with Gulf money greasing the process, let the nutters in. Algeria held relatively free elections and the Islamists won. The Algerian secularists and Army saw what was next on the menu and promptly " annulled " the election results. Erdogan and the AKP, no fools they, realised that if Turkey is admitted into the EU, the EU would not tolerate the Turkish Armed Forces's " interference in the democratic process". This means that Turkey in Europe would be as Islamic as the AKP wants. With its Anatolian retrogrades it would be a majority, as it is now, able to democratically do whatever it wants in Turkey. All our women in burkhas? Sure! Sharia with some nice televised stonings? You got it! None of the numpties running Europe would object. How could they? It would have been after all the will of the Turkish people. More subtely, the Islamists might get Turkey into the EU, behave long enough to purge the secularists under Brussel's approving wing and then secede to set up the beloved Caliphate of old. Either way, the bus would have served its purpose.
So, in conclusion, for our's and Turkey's sake it is best that Turkey remain outside the EU. Outside, Turkey would remain safe under the undemocratic but benevolent tutelage of its secularists. Hey, in 50 years or so even the Anatolians might mellow out. Who knows?

West Midlands Police; Institutionally Sectarian ?

Looks that way. Its Assistant Chief Constable Anil Patani called for the prosecution of the makers of the Channel Four Documentary Undercover Mosque accusing them of splicing together excerpts from longer sermons in such a way that they were grossly misrepresented. Now that Ofcom has found that no such faking occurred and that criminal views and exhortations were expressed as revealed by the documentary, where does that leave us ? With a police force that has actively sought in the name of social cohesion to appease some of the most appalling of Islam's Saudi funded monomaniacs. Lets recall some of the things that were said;

" Take the homosexual and throw him off the mountain"
" Whoever changes his religion from Islam to anything else-kill him"
"By the age of 10, it becomes an obligation on us to force young girls to wear the hijab, if she doesent- hit her"

The National Secular Society is calling for an inquiry into the behaviour of the West Midlands Police. Excellent. The Force should also be pressed to prosecute the subjects of the documentary. As there has been no action in this direction, it seems clear that if the good name of this Force is to be restored drastic measures need to be taken. A good start would be a root and branch clear out of those officers who because of their personal faith are unable to properly fulfil their duty of protection of the community at large under the law of the land. This problem with sectarian officers should also be investigated in other forces as a matter of urgency. There are, as another example, too many reports of Asian women abuse victims not always getting from Asian officers the support that is their right.

Hillary Clinton, the Vice Presidency and Cactus Jack Garner.

Amongst a number of distinguished appointments that he held, Texan Democrat " Cactus Jack " Garner did a stint as Franklin D. Roosevelt's Vice President. When Lyndon B. Johnson was trying to make up his mind whether or not to accept John F. Kennedy's offer of the V.P. ticket, he went to ask Garner for his advice. Garner was blunt telling him " It aint worth a bucket full of warm piss ".

Excluding the tragic possibility of the President's death in office, an event that in LBJ's case allowed him in fact to step up to the Presidency, the advice is still good. If Obama can be pressurised against his will, he is not keen, to offer Clinton the V.P., she should decline. Unless of course, which I doubt, she is feeling like a spot of self sacrifice. With her, Obama might just make it. She then becomes a ghost also ran sub John Prescott figure who could not expect Obama to stand aside from his entitlement to a whack at a second term in 2012. If he looses they are both history. Her best bet is to give Obama her generous/minimum of support as an unattached Democrat and see the Viet Vet in. Maybe then, in 2012, we would see something spectacular; Condoleeza v Hillary.
