Fayhan al Ghamdi was a popular Saudi cleric whose spoutings on the Proper Islamic Life were often broadcaste on the Kingdom's TV. He was recently condemned to a short prison sentence. Why? Well, he raped and tortured to death his five year old daughter Lama because he " doubted she was a virgin ". In between raping his daughter, he had had burnt her and broken her back and ribs.
Elsewhere in the Kingdom, another cleric has the answer. Sheik Abdullah Daoud has called for baby girls to be veiled. " This will deter child abuse " he said. Of course ! How blindingly obvious !
